we watched them build it
in their driveway for
fifteen years, how
they each took two hour
watches tied to the railing
in the middle of a pacific
night.
when i said lonely lonely
lonely, didn't mean it like
a bad thing, but they
can't seem to make an offer,
she says he's going alone
next time.

The title is a line from "The Life Aquatic," which I watched for the first time last night (AMAZING), and the poem was "found" in a conversation my grandparents were having tonight about some friends who had sailed across the Pacific. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you hadn't seen it. I totally caught the reference. I'm a huge fan. Of the Life Aquatic, and also the foundness of this poem. WIN!
