june 17

there was a tide and it
swelled and it rose
and it fell and it
spilled from her
throat and it
welled up, was shining
her teeth into shell and
her mouth was an oyster,
her swollen anemone tongue
would be pearl
and she blinked through
the ocean, her eyes shifted
green but at night they were
blue beneath wet reefs of lashes,
she swam and the sea fell asleep.

  2. It's like a creation myth! I am going through a creation myth phase right now!

  3. Actually, the reason it's like a creation myth is that it's a flood story... which I guess is kind of the obvious way to interpret it. So maybe it's not just that phase. Or maybe it's a myth of CHANGE!
